Teapot

My flatmate's teapot. Bit of an experiment with using colour and graphite.

Faber-Castell graphite (B), Faber-Castell watercolour pencil in '443', Derwent watercolour pencil in 'Prussian Blue'.

  1. It's great to read your reply, and knowing that what we all did helped in some way in finding the path that you're taking. As long as you understand there's no need to worry, that the decisions you've made today will not determine what's happening tomorrow, and that it will also not last forever, then you're doing just fine =) Love will persevere and love never fails(Phyllis quoted that from a verse in the Bible I think).
Back to your drawing, I like the hybrid in colors! In fact I was planning on doing the same thing with my latest drawing. It's a big gift for my friend here in Germany hence it's taking a while. But I am thinking since I like graphite for its flexibility, I perhaps could achieve the similar result by using erasable colored pencils for outlines and light shadings, and then perhaps enhance it later with more permanent colored pencils. Another thought in creating :) something I'll be starting next year.
And I really appreciate your comments on how I draw hair, still a long way to go for me, but every little words of encouragement helps ^^

  3. Don't you just love to experiment? The results are very successful, so maybe you will work with more color in the future. (Or not, that's the beauty part - it's all about pleasing yourself!)

  6. I think the colours work well. I have found coloured pencils to be a very tricky medium, especially so when mixing with graphite - perseverance and patience are the keys.
